How do I count down days to an important date?
Set a target date - the tool shows how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds remain. Updates live, every second.
Add an event name (e.g. "My wedding", "Project deadline"). The URL automatically saves the state - send the link to friends so they see the countdown too.
Once the date passes, it counts the other way - "how long since X". Perfect for marking important events.
How to use it
- Pick a target date in the field.
- Optionally enter the event name (e.g. "Vacation 2025").
- The tool shows how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds remain - live.
- Copy the URL and send to friends - they'll see the same countdown.
- After the date passes - the tool counts the other way ("time elapsed").
When this is useful
Six typical situations where a countdown is genuinely useful:
- Important personal events. Wedding, birth of a child, vacation. The classic countdown use.
- Project deadline at work. Dedicated page with a counter to the deadline. The team always sees how long is left.
- Product or show launch. "23 days until season 4 premiere". Send the link to fans.
- Exam or thesis defense. Students often set up countdowns to motivate themselves to study.
- Retirement, end of school, vacation. Long-term countdowns help with planning.
- Anniversary tracking. "How long since our wedding day", the tool counts the other way after the date.
To calculate the difference between two specific dates instead of tracking a countdown, use our date difference. To plan cyclic work with breaks, see Pomodoro timer.
