What flipping a PDF means
Flipping creates a mirror image of every page. Horizontal flip swaps left and right, so text reads backwards (think of holding a printed page up to a mirror). Vertical flip swaps top and bottom, so the page looks like it has been turned over a horizontal hinge. Flipping is different from rotating: rotation keeps the layout readable, flipping makes a mirror copy.
This tool runs fully in your browser. We re-render every page as a high-resolution image, flip the image with the canvas, and pack the result into a fresh PDF. The original file never leaves your device. Heads up: because we go through images, the text inside the new PDF stops being searchable. That is the tradeoff that lets the tool stay private and work in one browser tab.
How to use it
- Drop a PDF file onto the upload area or click to pick one from disk.
- Wait for the thumbnails to render. Large documents load in batches.
- Use the Flip all horizontally or Flip all vertically buttons at the top to mirror every page the same way.
- For per-page control, hover over any thumbnail and use the small flip toggles that appear over it.
- Each thumbnail updates instantly to show the mirrored preview. The badge in the corner indicates which flip is active.
- Press Apply and download to save the mirrored PDF. The original file on disk stays untouched.
- Reset all flips with one click if you want to start over without re-uploading.
When this is useful
Common reasons to flip pages in a PDF:
- Iron-on transfers and decals: prints designed for transfer paper need to be mirrored so they read the right way after pressing.
- Photo negatives or X-ray scans: some scanners save medical and lab images with reversed orientation. Flip them to match the standard.
- Embroidery and stencil templates: a design that lays a stencil face-down on the fabric needs a mirrored print.
- Practice handwriting templates: tracing sheets sometimes need to be mirrored for left-handed practice or dictionary-style training.
- Backside printing for envelopes and address labels: certain envelope feeders expect the page mirrored vertically.
- Recovering accidentally mirrored exports: design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator) sometimes save with an unintended flip. One click here puts the file back to normal.
- Comic-book localization: when adapting English comics to right-to-left layouts (Japanese style), every page is flipped horizontally first, then the text is replaced.
