How do I crop an image to a square (avatar) or 16:9?

How to use it
- Drop an image onto the dropzone or click "Choose file". Default crop = central 80% of the photo.
- Drag the centre of the white box to move, corners to resize. Works with mouse and touch.
- Pick an aspect ratio: 1:1 (avatar), 16:9 (YouTube), 9:16 (Stories), "Free" (anything else).
- Click "Download" - cropped image with `-cropped` suffix. Output preserves input format (PNG → PNG, JPG → JPG).

Where cropping earns its keep - typical jobs:
- Avatar / profile photo - 1:1 for LinkedIn, GitHub, Twitter, Discord, Slack.
- YouTube thumbnail - 16:9, centered on the face with room for text.
- Instagram Stories and Reels - 9:16, vertical crop.
- Facebook banner / Twitter header - 16:9 or custom.
- OCR documents - crop just the text region for better recognition.
- Blog screenshots - crop out menus and sidebars, keep only the relevant fragment.
- Product photos for e-commerce - 1:1 is standard so all thumbnails look uniform.

Questions and answers
Aspect ratio = width-to-height ratio. Most common values:
- 1:1 = square (avatar, Instagram post)
- 16:9 = widescreen (YouTube, presentations)
- 4:3 = older monitor / document
- 9:16 = portrait phone (Stories, Reels, TikTok)
- 3:4 = vertical portrait
- "Free" = any shape - useful when you don't know yet where the image will go
