When this is useful
Six typical situations where exact sun and moon times actually matter:
- Outdoor photography. "Golden hour" is the best 30-60 minutes after sunrise and before sunset. Soft, warm light, perfect for portraits and landscapes.
- Wedding photo sessions. Plan the outdoor shoot right at golden hour. Check the exact time for the chosen date.
- Running and cycling. When to start so you finish before dark? "Daylight left" shows how much light you have.
- Sailing, fishing. Sunrise and sunset are the backbone of water-activity planning.
- Amateur astronomy. The moon phase tells you night-sky observation conditions. Full moon (bad, lights up the sky), new moon (great).
- Education and camping. Kids see that summer days are long (16+ hours of light), winter ones short (8 hours). And on a camping trip, civil dawn and dusk show the bounds of the "practical day".
