When this is useful
The most common uses:
- Baking with a metric recipe abroad. "175°C, what is that in the oven?". 175°C = 350°F, classic baking temperature.
- Weather abroad. "21°C, is that warm or cold?" (around 70°F, a pleasant day). Most of the world uses Celsius.
- Body temperature. "37.2°C, is that a fever?" (slightly elevated, around 99°F). International health apps may use Celsius.
- Hotel air conditioning. Thermostat set to 22°C means 72°F. Comfortable temperature.
- Science and physics. Kelvins are used in scientific work. 0 Kelvin is "absolute zero" (-273°C). 273 K = 0°C.
- Education. Physics homework. Check the conversion in a second.
Questions and answers
Formula: (°F - 32) × 5/9 = °C. Example: 70°F → (70-32) × 5/9 = 38 × 5/9 = 21°C. The converter does it automatically. Quick rule: Fahrenheit numbers are bigger than Celsius. 0°C is already 32°F.
